The second of three homes designed by Dick Isenhour on Manor Drive. This wood and stone two story home may seem stark from the side profile above, but the front is punctuated by large glass expanses that allow for an abundance of natural light. Its woodsy setting is a perfect complement to the home and along with the natural construction materials helps to soften the sharp angles and no-nonsense facade. I suspect the exterior wood may be a newer replacement, but can’t be certain. At any rate, it is a beautiful home and a drive through the Lakeshore area is a great way to take in some interesting architecture.

This Isenhour built home on Braemer Drive looks like the tough older brother to the siblings living on Jesselin Drive and Blueberry Drive. All are fantastic. The Braemer property is executed on a much larger scale, though, which allows for a great expanse of Isenhour’s signature stone work. Still referred to by some as the Schwert House, this Landsdowne Estates property is familiar to many midcentury aficionados in the Bluegrass.
