I have a real love for the modest single family home of the 1950s. In the McMansion world of today, it is nice to remember that Lexington still plays host to many gems that may be modest in scale, but not on visual appeal. Just off Southland Drive, turn onto Rainbow Rd and travel mid-block to find mid-century. It’s that easy. The clean lines of this mixed facade home blend well into the traditional ranch houses along the street.

kymodern will present a nicer photo of this Idle Hour house once the weather breaks. Similar in design to numerous homes around the Harrodsburg Rd area, this 1957 brick classic is currently FOR SALE. It has a fairly open floor plan and would be a nice midcentury modern starter home.
